I experimented with the psychology of colour. The relatively unnoticeable effect that colour has on us is fascinating in that it truly does subconsciously alter our emotional state of mind. Through my own research I have found surprisingly few texts on this subject as the effects cannot be measured in any real scientific sense but must be experienced, and as such is hard to articulate. As a result I enjoy experimenting in colour and colour environments.
The naming convention I have developed for these experiments are categorized based on colour, medium, and version number.
Two of my colour environment experiments are Colour Experiment B room #1 (the Blue Room) and Colour Experiment O room #1 (the Orange Room). I outfitted a gallery at Emily Carr completely in one colour. I then invited people in to hang out in the room and asked them to leave comments on how they felt during their stay in the room.
